The Nutcracker Ballet and Orchestra in Maastricht

In this Christmas story, young Clara receives a nutcracker in the shape of a little man as a gift. On a mysterious magical night, the toys, led by the Nutcracker, enter into a fierce battle with the terrible mice of the house. Frightened by the events, Clara decides to face her fears and throws herself into the fight, saving her beloved Nutcracker. Moved by her courage and filled with gratitude, he changes into a beautiful prince and takes Clara to a beautiful land.

The Nutcracker is over a century old, having first been performed in 1892 in St. Petersburg at the Mariinsky Theatre. Today, it remains without a doubt one of the most popular ballets in the world. Tchaikovsky's famous orchestral music combined with the virtuosity of the dancers, both enhanced by breathtaking sets and costumes, take audiences of all ages on a magical journey.
